Sunderland Motor Salvage Operators
All persons carrying on a business as a motor salvage operator (MSO) must register with the local authority in whose area their registered place of business is located. Specific records must be kept by each MSO in connection with their receipt and sale or disposal of vehicles. The police have a right of entry without warrant at any reasonable time to inspect the premises of registered MSO, inspecting motor vehicles, parts and records. The Council maintains a Register which contains the full names and dates of birth of the MSO, Directors or Partners in the business as applicable.
